‎PRESIDENT BOKO TO ATTEND THE FRANCE-AFRICA SUMMIT

‎GABORONE, 10th May 2026: President Advocate Duma Gideon Boko, will participate at the France-Africa Summit on 11th-12th May 2026, in Nairobi, Kenya.

‎The Summit is jointly hosted by Kenya and France, under the theme, “Africa Forward Summit: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth. It will bring together Heads of State, business leaders, innovators, civil society, youth and members of the diaspora, to explore ways of renewing and enhancing relations between the African continent and France, as well as advance economic development partnerships. The Summit will further deliberate on a spectrum of issues, including health system strengthening, peace and security, digital competitiveness, energy access, and food sovereignty, in an effort to identify tangible solutions to common challenges.

‎The Africa Forward Summit is expected to open with a Business Forum on 11th May 2026, which will showcase projects and innovations from African and French private sectors. President Boko will deliver a statement at the Forum during a High-Level sporting event, where he will highlight Botswana’s commitment to implementing public policies that leverage sport for economic, social and regional development. The President is also expected to co-Chair a High-Level Roundtable on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blue economy, Health and Agriculture, where he will provide strategic and political framing for the discussion themed, “AI Governance and science policy: the case for locally owned data – from mineral mapping to public services”.

‎In addition, President Boko will participate in High-Level engagements on sustainable industrialization, energy transition and the international financial architecture. On the margins of the Summit, the President will have the opportunity to meet with Batswana residing in Kenya to among others, engage them on emerging issues of national concern and interest.

‎President Boko and his delegation will return to Gaborone on 13th May 2026. In his absence, The Vice President Ndaba Nkosinathi Gaolathe will assume the role of Acting President of the Republic of Botswana.
